Let’s Talk About Geek Girl!

Hello everybody and welcome back to my blog! In today’s post, I’m going to talk about a book series I love and this is no more and no less than… GEEK GIRL! This is not one of my usual posts, so I hope you like it and that you enjoy it as much as the other ones. If you like it don’t forget to like the post and if you are new here click the little button below and join my blog!

You have may noticed from some of my posts that I really like Geek Girl and I thought it could be great to share this love with you. If you don’t know anything about these books I’m going to explain it right now, but if you already knew, well done and I recommend you to skip this part!

I also know from my last post that many readers of this blog also love Geek Girl so I would love if the comments of this post become a place to share our opinion and our love to Geek Girl. So you know, after reading this post join the debate and if you know someone who may like it don’t desire to tell him!

Geek Girl is a book series that it’s compounded by nine books with six of them being the main ones and three of them being a kind of extra. It’s about a girl, Harriet, that knows many things, she gets good marks and her classmates call her a geek except for her best friend Nat. But suddenly one day she is spotted as a model and all her life starts changing.

She knows that a cat has 32 muscles in each ear, a “jiffy” lasts 1/100th of a second, and the average person laughs 15 times per day. What she isn’t quite so sure about is why nobody at school seems to like her very much. So when she’s spotted by a top model agent, Harriet grabs the chance to reinvent herself. Even if it means stealing her Best Friend’s dream, incurring the wrath of her arch enemy Alexa, and repeatedly humiliating herself in front of the impossibly handsome supermodel Nick. Even if it means lying to the people she loves.

As Harriet veers from one couture disaster to the next with the help of her overly enthusiastic father and her uber-geeky stalker, Toby, she begins to realise that the world of fashion doesn’t seem to like her any more than the real world did.

And as her old life starts to fall apart, the question is: will Harriet be able to transform herself before she ruins everything?

It’s a fun journey between the famous top model life and the average teenage girl’s life!

Before I start talking about my opinion and what I think about the book, I wanted to share with you a very useful image of the order you have to follow to read the books. When I started reading the first book I thought it would just go like 1,2,3,4… But then when I did some research about it, I saw there were more books in the middle and I felt quite confused. Until I found this image that helped me a lot. And as I know many of you are reading Geek Girl I thought it would be nice to share it with you!

Now, it’s time for my opinion. As you may know for now, I really like this book series and I enjoy a lot reading the books. It has many funny moments but also not so funny ones, but if you are expecting to read a more deep book this one is not for you! I think that many teenagers will feel identify with her and if you also like the fashion world this is a good lecture.

Talking about the way that Holly Smale has written this book I think it’s an easy way to understand with no so difficult words as is headed for a younger public. It’s an easy lecture that it’s a perfect time spending.

About the whole series, although I haven’t read all them, I think they are all really conected except the extra ones that you can easily skip with no problem (they are more for Geek Girl fans). And for what I have read until now there is a clear evolution of the character and the people around. I personally can’t wait to read the rest!

And that’s all about this post! I hope you really like it and that you know have another book in your reading list if you didn’t already know Harriet. Down you will have some interesting links if you want to know more about it. So if you are interested go and check those out!

As I say before I want you to comment your opinions and convert the comments section in a forum for us to share our Geek Girl love!

  2. Ah the synopsis of the book is totally something I’d love to read! I mean isn’t that every girls dream to be smart and then all of sudden scouted out to be a model?! LOL I much prefer quick easy reads esp since I’m so limited on time to actually ready so thanks for sharing your little review. I’m definitely going to look into buying the first one and giving it a try!
